The Wedding of Catherine & Glenn : Our wedding day really was the best day of our lives, we had been planning this wedding for nearly two years so we were very pleased that everything went as well as planned. The day itself was like a summer’s day which was amazing considering it was February! We got married in St. Joseph's Church in Springhill, Glanmire, Cork on 14th February 2015, by Fr. Ted Sheehan, who was a former teacher of Glenn and had also christened our son Callum. All our family were involved in the wedding party which made the day extra special. Our 3 year old son Callum played a big part, carrying a heart imprinted with “Daddy, here comes Mammy” up the church aisle which was really nice. Callum wore a suit just like his dad’s but with the special addition of a Spiderman dickey bow - his favourite Superhero! Beautiful music was provided in the church by Catherine’s aunt Rosaleen Herlihy, who was accompanied by harpist, Mairead Kelly. Catherine’s father John also surprised the couple by playing the violin during the wedding ceremony, his first public performance! The Reception was held at Fitzgeralds Vienna Woods Hotel, Glanmire. We had “Sweet Sixteen! by the Fureys as our First Dance song, this is Glenn’s favourite song so meant a lot to us to have it played for our first dance. We wanted to entertain our guests from start to finish, so we booked magician Gerard Kearney to perform magic tricks to guests during the arrivals drinks reception. We also booked Marco the Singing Chef for a performance after the meal; Glenn & I were the only ones who knew that Marco was performing so it was a great surprise for everyone when he burst into song; he really created a fun atmosphere! Our wedding band Arkadia and DJ Trevor Fitzpatrick were also great in keeping the party atmosphere going and keeping the crowd on the dancefloor all night! We also had trad music by Myles Gaffney in the resident’s bar, so we really got the most out of our day – we were up singing and dancing until all hours! It was really romantic to get married on Valentine’s Day and now Glenn has no excuse to forget our anniversary!
