About

About Me

I am a Cork based Humanist Celebrant accredited by the Humanist Association of Ireland and a legal wedding solemniser. I am originally from Kilkenny but am living in Carrigaline since 2010 with my wife and two lurcher dogs. I spent many years working as a Secondary School teacher in Dublin and more recently in the Further Education sector with adults.

I am a passionate humanist and an active member of the Cork City Humanist group. I feel really strongly that all people should be treated equally and with respect and it was my involvement with the Marriage Equality campaign for same sex marriage that sparked my interest in becoming a celebrant.

I love music! I sing with Cork's LGBTS choir, Choral Con Fusion and play ukulele with Shandon Ukulele Ensemble. I love to garden and grow some of my own veg (which is handy as I am a vegan). Heading off for a trip in the old banger of a campervan is my idea of a very good time.

I live in Carrigaline and am happy to travel within two hours to celebrate your ceremony.

Creating Your Ceremony

I feel it is such a great privilege to be able to work with you to mark  your most meaningful moments. I specialise in Weddings, Naming Ceremonies and Funeral Services but am happy to work with you to create any ceremony to mark your special occasion. My role is to guide you towards celebrating your family landmarks in a warm, personal, and meaningful way. These are some of the most important days of your life and require special care.

As we craft your ceremony together, I will listen carefully to you and bring your personality to the heart of it. You can chose to include readings, music and symbols of your choice. You can include your guests to make them feel really part of the ceremony.

Your character will be stamped all over it. I will bring calm, knowledge, and professionalism to your day and hopefully a large helping of fun too!

What is a Humanism?

Humanists believe that every human being should live the best and happiest life possible while we are here on earth. Humanism is a philosophy of life and ethics, based on concern for humanity and the natural world. We do not look to any supernatural power for guidance but base our decisions on experience and reason. For a fuller explanation of the principles of Humanism, click here.

We are inclusive so whether you are a humanist, or religious, regardless of your world view or your philosophy, you are welcome at any of our ceremonies.

Celebrants accredited by the Humanist Association of Ireland are the only solemnisers who can offer a secular wedding in Ireland.
